Everything You Need to Know
Why should I travel with MOVEX, and what makes the tours so special?
With MOVEX, you won’t be traveling on a cookie-cutter itinerary. We combine the joy of driving along stunning routes with exclusive hotels, culinary highlights, and a relaxed atmosphere. You don’t have to worry about a thing—from route planning and luggage service to toll fees, we handle all the logistics so you can enjoy your time without a care in the world.
Who are these trips intended for, and will I fit in with the group?
Our tours are designed for anyone who wants to indulge their passion for unique vehicles and beautiful travel in an exclusive yet intimate setting—whether as a couple, with friends, or as a solo driver. We place great importance on a relaxed, respectful atmosphere free of pretentious posturing.
How fast do people drive—do I have to be a professional race car driver?
No, absolutely not! For us, it’s all about the joy of driving and the experience, not lap times. To accommodate every driving style, we divide the group into small clusters of no more than 5 vehicles plus a guide while on the road. This way, both more dynamic drivers and those who simply want to enjoy the scenery get the full experience—without any pressure.
How big are the groups on the tours?
To ensure personalized attention and a smooth driving experience without long traffic jams, we limit the total number of vehicles for the event to approximately 10 to 15. On the road, we always drive in small, manageable groups with a maximum of 5 cars per tour guide.
Are custom group, corporate, or club tours also available?
Yes, we'd love to! If you'd like to experience an exclusive event with your own club, group of friends, or business partners, we'll tailor a custom itinerary for you, including hotels, a supporting program, and logistics.
Which vehicles are permitted for the tours?
In general, almost any well-maintained vehicle is welcome—whether it’s a modern sports car, SUV, convertible, roadster, or classic car. The only important thing is that your vehicle is in perfect mechanical condition, roadworthy, and capable of handling the route (e.g., Alpine passes). (Separate class divisions apply for specific rallies such as the 1000 Miglia Experience.)
Is the route also suitable for low-slung sports cars or supercars?
Yes, absolutely. We personally inspect all mountain passes, access roads, and—in particular—the hotels’ underground parking garages in advance to check for ground clearance and approach angles. Even lowered sports cars can handle our routes with ease.
Where do the vehicles park overnight and during stops along the way?
The safety of your car is our top priority. All of our selected 4- and 5-star hotels offer secure, reserved hotel garages or private, monitored parking areas. We also take great care to ensure suitable parking spots during lunch stops.
How do I get there (by car, rental car, or truck)?
You have complete flexibility:
- On Your Own: You'll drive to the starting point yourself.
- Enclosed Truck Transport: We’ll have your vehicle delivered directly to the starting hotel in a secure, specialized transport vehicle and brought back to your home after the tour. You’ll fly there in comfort afterward.
- Car Rental on Site: You can arrive by plane stress-free, and we'll arrange your preferred rental car for you once you're there.
What happens to my luggage when I change hotels?
On all our tours that include luggage service as part of the package, you don’t have to worry about a thing: Simply drop off your suitcases at the front desk in the morning before departure. While you relax and enjoy the day’s journey, our logistics team will take care of the transport, so your luggage will be waiting for you when you arrive at your new hotel. You can clearly see whether the luggage service is included in your desired trip in the respective service details.
How does communication take place while driving?
On all of our guided MOVEX tours, each vehicle is equipped with a professional two-way radio at the start. This way, the tour guide can keep you informed about the route, photo stops, hazardous areas, and breaks without you having to take your eyes off the road.
Exception: In our rally format—the 1000 Miglia Experience Greece —you’ll drive the classic way, using official roadbook navigation and a Tripmaster. The focus here is on an authentic consistency and navigation experience, which is why we don’t use radios.
How do I navigate the routes, and do I need any prior knowledge?
You don't need any prior experience! On all of our regular MOVEX tours, you don't have to worry about navigation at all: We travel in very small, exclusive groups of no more than 5 vehicles, led by an experienced tour guide who always drives ahead and keeps a close eye on the group.
The only exception: In our official rally format—the 1000 Miglia Experience Greece —the focus is on independent navigation. Here, you’ll receive professional navigation materials on site (roadbook, GPS data, and Tripmaster instructions) and will be thoroughly prepared for the stages during a detailed drivers’ briefing.
How do tolls and vignettes work?
For all tours where tolls or vignette fees are listed as included services on the trip page (such as our Alpine tours through Austria or Switzerland), we handle all the logistics for the group itinerary. You’ll receive the vignettes or tickets directly during the first on-site briefing.
For tours where tolls are not included in the package (such as the Tuscany tour), as well as for individual travel to and from the starting or ending hotel, each participant is personally responsible for any tolls and vignette fees that may apply.
Do I have to be at the hotel by a certain time on the day of arrival (Day 1)?
No, the first day is meant for a relaxed arrival. Check-in at the hotel is usually available starting at 3:00 p.m. Our official program begins in the late afternoon with a group welcome drink and the welcome dinner.
What happens in case of bad weather or road closures?
Our guides constantly monitor the routes. If a mountain pass is closed due to weather conditions or roadwork, we immediately switch to pre-determined alternate routes that are just as appealing in terms of driving and scenery.
What happens after I make a reservation or submit an inquiry?
That depends on which option you choose when booking:
- Online payment (credit card, PayPal, etc.): You'll receive your binding booking confirmation by email immediately afterward.
- Payment by invoice: We will send you an invoice via email shortly (20% deposit, balance due approximately 4 weeks before departure). As soon as we receive your deposit via bank transfer, we will send you your binding booking confirmation.
- Bookings with special options (e.g., single room upon request, rental car, or vehicle transport): We’ll contact you personally as soon as possible to discuss your preferences, check availability, and go over the next steps together.
Can I bring a companion with me?
We'd be happy to! Our standard rates are based on the vehicle, including two people in a double room and meals for both. For passengers who don't want to push every turn to the limit, our partner hotels offer excellent spa, dining, and cultural experiences—provided you're staying at the same hotel that night.
What financial protection do I have when I make a reservation?
Your payments are completely secure with us. Along with your booking confirmation, you will receive a legally required travel protection certificate (in accordance with EU Directive 2015/2302). This fully protects the amounts you have paid in the event of unforeseen insolvency on the part of the tour operator.
Are special dietary requests or allergies taken into account?
Of course. Whether you're vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, or have specific food intolerances—just let us know when you book. We coordinate all menus individually with the hotel and restaurant chefs in advance.
Can I participate as an individual or a solo rider?
Highly recommended! Many of our participants travel alone. Thanks to our shared passion and the manageable group size, you’ll feel right at home in the group from the very first minute. A single-occupancy surcharge usually applies for single occupancy of a double room. For some tours, this price is listed directly on the trip page; for others, we calculate it individually upon request. Just contact us or select the appropriate option when booking!
Do you offer travel cancellation insurance?
We do not offer travel cancellation insurance directly as part of our services as a tour operator. However, we have set up a direct link for you: In the checkout area, you’ll find a link to our insurance partner. There, with just a few clicks, you can easily and customarily purchase the right travel cancellation or trip protection insurance for your tour.
